Services

Hospice of Charlotte offers non-medical services to patients who reside:

  • At home
  • In palliative care at Charlotte County Hospital
  • At a nursing home or special care facility

Any resident of Charlotte County whose illness is unlikely to be cured and whose life expectancy is, therefore, limited is eligible for Hospice Services.

We also offer relief services for primary caregivers.

All services are FREE

Palliative Care

Hospice of Charlotte’s non-medical services are provided by experienced, specially trained volunteers.

Our volunteers are caring and concerned people of all ages and backgrounds who undergo careful screening and adhere to strict confidential guidelines.

Our caregiver support and respite programs provide the caregiver with the opportunity to take a break, take a walk, go to the store, or just have coffee with a friend, knowing that their loved one is left in caring hands.

Hospice volunteers provide resources to patients and their families. Hospice partners with a number of Charlotte County agencies, including the following:

  • Hospitals and community clinics
  • Physician clinics
  • Extra Mural
  • Nursing homes (6)
  • Special care homes
  • Mental health services
  • Government services
  • Home Support services

Grief Support

When the time comes to face death and grief we hope to be surrounded by a circle of support… feeling safe, comfortable and cared for.

Grief Support Includes:

  • Grief/Bereavement telephone support
  • Grief/Bereavement library resources (books for children and adults at no cost)
  • Children’s Grief Circle
  • Caregiver support
  • Mourning Walks (walking buddies)
  • Adult One on One and group support
  • Virtual support
  • Programs available for all of Charlotte County including the islands

Grief support is available to anyone who is suffering a loss. Meetings are held regularly. If we can help, please contact us.

Education Services

We see a great need in our community for a better understanding of death and dying and how to help those involved through this life experience. Hospice of Charlotte will provide speakers and/or presentations for your group or organization.

Hospice of Charlotte maintains a resource library of books, videos and publications. In addition, there is a variety of free books for adults and children experiencing grief.
